Match Report EBUFC U12's Green vs Ransomes 29/01/22

Ransomes U12 1 East Bergholt Greens U12 3

We got back to winning ways today with a good performance and result away to Ransomes, which was our home game but played away due to a league fixture computer glitch.

Unfortunately the home side which should have been the away side…. well you know what I mean, were not keen on travelling the 11 miles to the lush fields of Gandish.
However in the interest of getting the game on we agreed to travel, indeed the game pretty much mirrored our previous visit in pattern.

Very blustery conditions meant keeping the ball on the deck and kicking with the advantage we applied the early pressure. Eoin going close from a free kick which suspiciously looked like a penalty after a foul on Joe. In the absence of VAR we accepted the decision. Our defence were in control and restricted a hard working Ransomes with good work from Eoin, James and Oli. In midfield Joe all round utility man Taylor were controlling things with Tom excelling on the left flank. Indeed it was Tom who opened the scoring straight from a corner on the stroke of half time. The opposition called out own goal. The leagues dubious goals committee were undecided but I’ve it on good authority Ladbrokes are to pay out on both scenarios.

As the saying goes Coach Newman and Garwood’s half time talk was made easier to the elated boys and Ransomes were deflated having defended well against the wind. We spoke about keeping the ball down supporting Toby with shorter kicks, defending a bit deeper and moving the ball with quality and patience. Plus chances would come now as the ball would hold up.

Ransomes reverted to a long game which didn’t work in the conditions and our passing going forward was exemplary. Tom, Taylor and Joe carving out chances for Alex who duly took two to take the game away. Toby dealt well with the conditions in goal and to be fair we never looked in any serious trouble.

We spoke about how we should defend set pieces and we did this well.

Special mention to MOTM Joe who was everywhere on the pitch carrying the ball into the danger area and suppling some defence splitting passes and to Taylor our very own 'I can play anywhere ' player.

Ransomes coaching staff confusion continued at the very end, previously not knowing where East Bergholt was and putting our goals down to mistakes when second half we controlled things and manufactured our chances and scores.

Oh I must be catching his amnesia as Ransomes scored a consolation goal right at the death after we feel asleep at the back and their forward drilled past Toby.

Just in case anyone needs them here are the coordinates for our home pitch!
51.9782° N, 1.0164° E
