Having lots of contact with them due to older age group link ups, Achilles are always happy to play fixtures and create experiences for their youngsters just like EBUFC. Training is great and definitely develops players however nothing quite beats seeing them actually play games with smiles on their faces. Thanks to Dave for bringing his two little teams to Gandish Road ( for a 0900 KO ) and we look forward to the return leg, which is currently being organised.

We will also be contacting other local clubs to get further little friendlies organised, in order to help the children transition into ‘proper football’.

Both Bergholt teams played four little matches against Achilles and by gosh did we see some entertaining stuff. Dribbling, passing, effort, total confusion, kicking the ball out, tackling each other and lots of enjoyment. What more could the parents and spectators want on a gorgeous Saturday morning. On top of all of that there were plenty of goals scored at both ends however it has only highlighted one thing we haven't worked on at training..and that’s goal celebrations ! although the perfectly executed cartwheel by JM has set the bar incredibly high.

It’s lovely seeing the youngsters, many from different local schools coming together and playing football. Building friendships and engaging in team sports superb for social development, experiencing new things and challenges. Football isn’t just about football and EBUFC is indeed 'more than a football club'.

The future is bright and with this batch of youngsters the future is definitely Green…….
